What is the SDIP?
This internship is uniquely designed for high-performing students interested in growing their experience in the contract research organization (CRO) industry who self-identify as members of traditionally underrepresented minority groups in the pharmaceutical and drug development industry. These groups include racial groups like Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC), protected veterans and/or individuals with disabilities.

Role Description
PPD is currently recruiting for our 2022 Summer Internship Program at our GMP Laboratory. The Program requires full-time hours (40 hours per week) starting May 23rd through August 12th.
Internships are available with several departments including Small Molecule, Inhalation, Physical & Chemical Characterization, Extractables & Leachables, Biopharmaceutical, Microbiology, and Gene & Cell Therapy. Placement will be determined based on interest and major of study.
Interns will learn about a contract research laboratory and its role within the pharmaceutical research and development industry. They will also be assigned specific project activities under the direction of their supervisor. The student will benefit by applying what they have learned in the classroom to practical situations and by having various opportunities to develop professionally.
Pay: $15.00/hr
Responsibilities
- Utilize and further develop your research, analytical, laboratory, and organizational skills by working with our team on real life projects
- Gain understanding and experience working in a regulated, industry laboratory
- Gain exposure through networking events, social media, and shadowing opportunities
- Participate in professional development opportunities focused on topics such as personal brand, building relationships, interviewing and resume building, career preparedness, and engaging in continuous coaching and development with the assistance of a team of mentors
- Attending and participating in meetings and conference calls
- Other ad-hoc tasks under the direction of your designated supervisor at PPD
Eligibility
- Students must self-identify as a member of a traditionally underrepresented groups such as Black, Indigenous and people of colour (BIPOC), protected veteran, and/or as an individual with disabilities
- Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program
- Must be a rising senior (projected to graduate Dec 2022 or May 2023)
- Majors accepted: Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Immunology, Biotechnology
