BASF Biology Scientist
The primary responsibility of this role is to screen samples for insecticidal activity and develop and improve insect assays in a highly automated and digitalized lab. The incumbent will perform and analyze in plate and in planta bioassays on economically important agricultural insect pests with the goal of discovering and characterizing insecticidal activities from different sources. The position produces critical data that support ongoing research as well as product development.
Eligibility
BASF Biology Scientist
- Bachelor level in biology, entomology, or related fields with 6+ years of relevant experience in an academic or industrial laboratory environment or Master level with 3+ years of relevant experience in an academic or industrial laboratory environment
Experience with major insect pests of key agricultural crops (corn, soybean, cotton, etc) - Prepare comprehensive reports
- Manage and implement automation solutions
- Manage the confidentiality of competitive know-how
- Follow all QHSE, Biosafety, and USDA/APHIS/PPQ requirements
- Experience with protein-based bioassays
- Ability to develop and improve assays
- BASF Biology Scientist Experience running and maintaining a lab
- Train and/or supervise others
- Design, implement and analyze experiments
- Basic knowledge of biochemistry, molecular biology and microbiology
- High attention to details
- Must have solid verbal and written communication skills
- Creative and flexible thinking
- Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills
- Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
