Role Overview:
Position: Senior Data Scientist
Location: Basel, Switzerland
Job Description:
This temporary contractor opportunity at Novartis is in collaboration with Magnit Global and focuses on omics data analysis within the Immunology Disease Area in Biomedical Research and Immunology Development Unit. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be responsible for analyzing, integrating, and interpreting various omics data types gathered from clinical trials in Rheumatology and Dermatology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analysis and visualization of immune repertoire sequencing
- Application of biostatistics and machine learning methods
- Contextualization of omics data results in relation to clinical endpoints
- Communicating findings to a diverse audience
Requirements:
- PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, biostatistics, data science, biomedical informatics or a related field, followed by 2+ years of postdoctoral experience in academia or the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry.
- Excellent knowledge of computational methods for the analysis, integration and interpretation of immune repertoire sequencing (BCR-seq, TCR-seq), transcriptomics (RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, spatial) and other omics data types.
- Excellent skills in data analysis, data visualization and statistical programming in R/Bioconductor and/or Python, plus strong familiarity with related web development frameworks (e.g., Shiny, Dash).
- Demonstrated experience with the application of supervised and unsupervised machine learning methods to biomedical data.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix command line and high-performance computing environments.
- Sound understanding of biology and immunology, ideally in the context of translational and/or clinical research.
- Excellent communication skills and knowledge of English (oral and written).
Role Type: Hybrid (3 days/week onsite)
Workload: 40 hours/week
