Laboratory Technician at Carlsberg Research Laboratory

Do you want to impact innovation at Carlsberg and support our exploratory and commercial research activities to support the development of plant-based ingredients? We are looking for a Laboratory Technician, Plant Science to join our New Ingredients platform at Carlsberg Research Laboratory to support us in understanding how characteristic aromas that hops add to beer are constituted genetically.
What you’ll be doing
You will be working together with a group of international experts on connecting the dots between hop aroma chemistry, sensory, and hop genetics. You will be in charge of organizing the laboratory, its resources, and samples. In this context, you will be responsible for the molecular biology work related to hop breeding including the setup of new experimental workflows as well as supporting the hop aroma and sensory analysis.
In Copenhagen, you will join an international, cross-functional team with expertise in biotechnology, bioinformatics, plant breeding, and hop analytics. Furthermore, your research will be embedded into an international network of scientific collaboration.
What we’re looking for
- You are a trained Biological Laboratory Technician with + 10 years of relevant experience in a research environment.
- You are experienced in organizing a complex research laboratory environment and are ready to work with experienced scientists on eye level on a daily basis.
- You have profound knowledge in molecular biology, e.g. with extraction and analysis of nucleic acids.
- Similarly, you are familiar with sample preparation and processing for mass-spectrometry.
- You are excited about working with plants and plant tissue culture.
- You are open to familiarizing yourself with the sensory analytics of hops.
- You are a well-organized, structured, and thorough person ready to work on several tasks simultaneously, who respects timelines and likes to work in a team.
- Last but not least, you are a self-motivated individual, eager to expand your knowledge and contribute with your own ideas and initiatives.
