Opportunity Details
Full-time (100%), fixed-term position for up to 12 months. The base salary will be in the range of $78,944.40 – $87,750.37 + 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 5). This role is based at the St Lucia Campus.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the isolation, cultivation, and analysis of bacterial and fungal isolates from marine substrates.
- Prepare and assist in the chemical characterisation of solvent extracts.
- Contribute to the safe and efficient operations of research group equipment.
- Accurately document all activities in lab books and specialist databases.
- Prepare written and oral presentations, support project reports, and scientific manuscripts.
- Provide general laboratory and office administrative support.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent in microbiology.
- Practical experience in microbiological sterile technique and cultivation of bacteria/fungi.
- Experience using specialist databases.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Well-organised, methodical, and self-motivated.
