Position Summary
The Microbiologist I at Pharmavite is responsible for conducting microbiological analyses of bulk products, raw materials, and environmental samples. This role reports to the Quality Control Microbiology Leader.
Key Responsibilities
Critical contributions this role is counted on to deliver include:
- Performs microbiological testing using rapid and traditional methodology on raw materials, in-process materials, finished products, and other samples according to Pharmavite Standard Methods or USP methods.
- Performs sampling, testing, and other activities as assigned to support the site’s environmental monitoring program according to established standard operating procedures and methods, as well as generates trend data from test results.
- Compliant with cGMP and all regulatory guidelines and performs microbial analyses using aseptic techniques.
- Immediately reports any out-of-specification (OOS) to the team leader and supports microbiological test failure investigations (OOS) to determine the root cause for all test failures and communicate with management.
- Performs general laboratory duties, including cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas and cleaning of the microbiology laboratory.

Critical Success Factors
You’ll be most successful in this role if you have:
- Keen attention to detail and ability to closely follow written procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally, and in writing with multiple levels of employees and across various functions.
- Working knowledge of microbiology techniques, safety, and quality.
- A basic understanding of microbiology practice and theory gained through academic study and/or prior lab experience.
- Prior laboratory, GMP, and use of LIMS program experience is a plus.
Capabilities & Skills Required
- Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, biology, or related science.
- 0-3 years experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in Quality or microbiology.
- Proficiency in using MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for data entry and processing.
