Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Independently conduct research on business-directed projects both independently and within a project team environment through the application of microbiological and molecular biology methods.
- Lead and develop an Applied Microbiology center of expertise
- Develop project plans in conjunction with the Group manager and Project leaders
- Interpret results and formulate future research actions or alternative technical solutions
- Communicate research internally and externally
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. with a minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in a related field
- Trained in Microbiology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related fields with an emphasis on microbial physiology, metabolism, and genetics
- Experience with the biology of Gram-positive bacteria
- Knowledge and experience with molecular biology methodologies

- Project management: planning, tracking, and reporting
- Safety assessment of bacteria
- High throughput screening applied to strain selection and/or improvement
- Team management
