Job Summary:
Summer Research Assistant for CVM SARE project. Lab Assistant will report to Dr. Jose Peralta, College of Veterinary Medicine, and will be involved in various tasks related to microbiological analysis and project coordination.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Basic and advanced laboratory knowledge & skills
- Ability for logical, independent problem-solving
- Knowledge of medical and microbiological terminology
Required Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent and concurrent enrollment in an undergraduate program
Experience: Research lab experience and knowledge of fundamental laboratory techniques
Key Responsibilities:
- Travel and field collection of samples
- Sample handling and purification of DNA
- PCR, gel electrophoresis
- Project management and scheduling

Expected Pay Scale:
Minimum: $17.00
Maximum: $21.00
Physical Demands:
Physical demands include lifting, use of hands, and occasional outdoor work. A valid driver’s license is required.
Work Environment:
The Research Associate role involves work in a typical laboratory setting with exposure to chemicals and animal samples.
