Job Posting: Scientist I – Optical Physiology of Neural Circuits
The Scientist I will be responsible for designing and conducting research projects aimed at understanding the dynamics of brain circuits using in vivo recordings of various activity signals. This position will involve investigating information processing mechanisms in different brain areas while mice are engaged in behavioral tasks. The individual will utilize advanced genetic tools, fluorescent protein indicators, photometry methods, and specialized microscopes developed by the Allen Institute and partner institutions.
A Day In the Life
- Designing and executing optical physiology experiments with genetically encoded indicators
- Analyzing data and collaborating with internal teams and external partners
- Training team members on experimental procedures
Requirements
- PhD in neuroscience, biological sciences, biomedical engineering, or related field
- Experience in optical physiology approaches
- Proficiency in data analysis and modeling using Python
Work Environment
This role offers a hybrid work environment, with the possibility of remote work based on departmental guidelines. The primary work location is 615 Westlake Ave N. This is a project-based position with an anticipated end date of October 31, 2028.
Salary: Annualized salary range: $84,900 – $105,050, dependent on qualifications and experience.
