INTERN– RESEARCH AND EARLY DEVELOPMENT- SAFETY ASSESSMENT – TOXICOLOGY

Preferred Majors/Disciplines: Toxicology, Biochemistry, Biology, Veterinary Medicine
Given the current uncertainty of the global pandemic and work from home situation for 2021, this internship is currently planned to be virtual with the option for interns to work remotely from within the U.S. Borders. We will keep candidates informed if this changes.
Additionally, our summer 2021 internship program will only consider international candidates who are currently in the US and will remain in the US for the duration of the internship.
The mission of the Safety Assessment, Toxicology group is to provide expertise in toxicology and working closely with pathology, we design, conduct and integrate findings of toxicology programs in support of drug candidate development at Genentech. Translatability of these findings to human patients is our key objective. In meeting this mission we are committed to the well considered and ethical use of animals.
Job Description/Responsibilities
In current text mining efforts, we are extracting interpreted in vivo data from Study Reports and are going to store these information in an enhanced SEND data model in an electronic repository. To ensure a high quality of these crucial data, a cross-functional summer intern working with ‘SA Data and System Operations’ and ‘SA CompTox’ would help conduct a thorough analysis/QC of these machine-readable Study Report Conclusions.
Requirements/Qualifications
- IT and data curation skills, open for collaborations with many different functions and teams, familiarity with non-clinical in vivo toxicology data
