Job Description
The intern will participate in departmental and project team meetings to provide a broad perspective of product development and department time-line. The intern is responsible for accurate notebook recording, summarizing activities bi-weekly, maintaining equipment, keeping a clean work area and working safely in accordance with Roquette policy. The intern will be given a project in protein or its related process/chemistry that will be completed with guidance from a specified mentor. The intern will have an opportunity to present their research results in both oral and written formats to the R&D staff.
The preferred intern will have education and experience in chemical engineering, chemistry, biochemistry or food science. Experience with process/product development on plant-based protein, and Rheology (Rheometer) would be highly desirable.
Education Requirement:
Candidates must be a currently enrolled junior, or senior students pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Chemical engineer, Chemistry or Food Science; OR a currently enrolled graduate student pursuing a Masters or PhD in Chemical engineer, Chemistry or Food Science.
Required Experience and Skills:
Candidates must have completed at least two years of studies toward bachelor’s degree by June 2020.
Candidates must be available to work full-time for up to (12) weeks from June – August 2020.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Candidates should have a significant interest in new process/product development and protein chemistry
Candidates should have basic laboratory/pilot skills and laboratory/pilot experience and good lab/pilot practices (GLP’s).
Candidates should have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
