The Research Associate will be responsible for research and development in microbiology and innovation of new concepts, including all experimental design, feasibility determination, execution, and analysis. The candidate will have a strong background in microbiology and biochemistry.

Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Microbiology or Biochemistry with 2+ years of relevant microbiology experience. (Academic experience included)
- MS in Microbiology or Biochemistry with 3+ years of relevant microbiology experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology with 3-5+ years related experience.
Candidates with more or less experience are encouraged to apply and be considered at a different level - Experience growing and culturing microorganisms, plants, and/or insects as subject matter for the development and evaluation of formulations.
- Experience designing multivariate studies for different formulations to minimize the number of replicates while maximizing the amount of information to obtain optimized finished antimicrobial product formulations.
- Experience with isolation, identification, and characterization of microorganisms from various environmental samples (including bacteria, fungi, and algae).
- Develop prototypes, validate efficacy, and assist with scale-up from development to production.
- Must have a solid understanding and adherence to the Servant Leadership philosophy.

Responsibilities
- Lead R&D projects, with regular supervision, and assume responsibility for their success.
- A high sense of accountability and initiative to ensure project success is required.
- Actively identify and lead research areas that could lead to new product development or process improvement, with minimal supervision.
- Perform literature reviews and incorporate into research strategies.
- Independently develop SOPs, research protocols, and research methods.
- Maintain accurate and detailed electronic laboratory notebooks.
- Develop documents in compliance with the Product Innovation Process.
- Independently perform advanced data analysis and interpretation, including statistical analysis.
- Independently perform laboratory experiments (plan, execute, analyze, and interpret results).
- Generate scientific publications used for internal or external purposes, with management review.
- Prepare and present research reports in multiple formats for both internal and external audiences.
- Review internal publications.
- Must adhere to laboratory standard operating procedures, documentation, and guidelines.
- Troubleshoot issues with laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
- Participate in external research collaborations, with management.
