Eligibility Criteria:
Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field of study, or an Associate degree and 1 year of experience which includes: Microbiology, Biology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, or other related fields.
Preferred:
- Lab experience in cell culture, purification, or analytical techniques for biologicals. Good foundational knowledge in at least one of the three following areas: biologics production or testing, cell biology, virology, &/or purification.
- Foundational knowledge and experience in at least one of the three following areas: vaccine production, cell therapy, and/or viral vector production or testing.
- Work Hours: Daily, Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. Requires availability to work early in the morning, in the evenings, holidays, weekends, and overtime when required to meet timelines. These hours would be mandatory.
Job Function
- 40% Execute, record, and organize protocols under the mentorship of senior lab personnel and/or Principal Investigators.
- Draft and review protocols and reports under the mentorship from senior lab personnel and/or Principal Investigators.,
- Maintaining accurate records to support regulatory filings and protection of intellectual property in accordance with relevant Thermo Fisher required standards.
- 35% Maintains laboratory and equipment.
- Leads projects at the task level, which includes: ensuring availability and suitability of materials and equipment to execute their assignments.
- Coordinating hand-off of samples for testing. 15% Miscellaneous
Position Description/Summary:
The Scientist I is responsible, with mentorship from Principal Investigators and/or other senior lab personnel, for conducting and troubleshooting experiments in the Science and Technology Team (STT laboratory in Alachua, FL. The primary function of the STT is to develop novel manufacturing and analytical platforms and technologies for use in cell and viral vector manufacturing.
The Scientist I will apply their technical skills to complete their tasks/assignments in the STT Laboratories to assist in meeting the goals of the STT group. Duties include drafting protocols, and reports, executing protocols and assisting with other lab activities as required. The incumbent is encouraged to maintain high standards for the work they perform.
