McCormick & Company, Inc., a world leader in the spice, flavor, and seasonings industry, is seeking a full-time Manufacturing Technical Lead supporting a major industrial customer. This new hire will work in the Hunt Valley Plant, located in Hunt Valley, MD. The Manufacturing Technical Lead will report to a Plant Change Manager.

Skills and experience which qualified candidates will possess include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Food Science, Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing facility, with startup, process engineering, or team management experience
- A proven record of target-focused delivery in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully initiate and complete business changes resulting from improvement, commercial, scale-up, or capital projects.
- Demonstrated use of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) or similar methodologies for problem solving
- Demonstrated collaborative and influencing capability, diplomacy, and partnering skills that build and grow cross-functional relationships at all levels and promote a high-performance organization.
- Ability to do critical planning for projects, and to be adaptable to course correct with business change.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects for timely completion.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness and ability to work flexible hours to support the needs of a multi shift operation.
- Must be willing and able to travel to other sites to help with start-up activities if required.
- Very proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred skills and experiences
Experience in the food and/or pharmaceutical manufacturing industry preferred.
Knowledge of SAP (ERP), TRAKSYS, Microsoft Project, Visio or PROMAPP preferred.
Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Plant Change Manager, the Manufacturing Technical Leader will be responsible for leading commercial initiatives, startups for new equipment, product, packaging, and CCI projects as assigned, in the HVP. This position will deliver initiatives to meet business objectives while ensuring that change-related losses in the operation are prevented. This position will deliver the targeted Vertical Start-Up (VSU) goals for these initiatives. The role will coordinate the planning and execution of initiatives between the HVP and other functions, including, R&D, Commercialization, Engineering, Logistics, and Product Development to ensure smooth integration and the resolution of issues that arise.
Responsibilities of this position include:
- Responsible for the successful delivery of key Commercial, Engineering, CCI and Business Critical projects to achieve vertical startups and speed to market business objectives
- Coordinates work between various functions to deliver on project commitments
- Develops, implements, and manages the Start-Up Management plan for assigned projects using the standard TPM methodologies and operational best practices during projects
- Gathers plant and line information to respond to Project Initiation Forms (PIFs) accurately and quickly for business teams to evaluate net business impact.
Updates plant leadership on the status of projects at Initiative and Change Control meetings as needed. - Uses standard people change management and change control processes during start-ups and problem solves with the process representatives and the operational teams when issues arise.
- Supervises Start-Up Coordinators and the MAC/FFU team to perform and evaluate MACs and to ensure data and specification accuracy for initiatives
- Shares and reapplies best practices in Initiative, Start-Up Management, and Change Control as needed.
