Eligibility:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or a related field;
- 5+ years of experience managing Food Safety and Quality in a large scale retail or manufacturing environment (multi-store/multi-plant);
- 3+ years of people management experience;
- Knowledgeable in local, state, and federal food regulations (including USDA and FDA);
- Experience interacting with the state and local regulators including the Department of Health
Preferred Qualification
- Master’s degree in Food Science or a related field;
- 5+ years of people management experience;
- Working knowledge of environmental monitoring programs and micro-organisms of concern to the food industry;
- Online/retail experience;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Lean Six Sigma experience
High-level summary of deliverables:
- Train and develop a team for career progression and performance improvement;
- Communicate food safety and quality expectations and requirements with business leaders and all cross-functional support teams at all levels of the organization;
- Write well-reasoned and data-driven white papers, leveraging science, research, industry benchmarking and trends where necessary;
- Implement operational site programs and processes for receipt, storage, transportation, and disposal of food to ensure customer safety;
- Complete food safety audits at some sites;
- Work with regulatory agencies for site inspections;
- Leverage technology to manage compliance processes;
- Monitor business metrics to track compliance and process effectiveness;
- Continuously identify and communicate improvement opportunities;
- Work with stakeholders to ensure food safety requirements are met.
Position requires frequent travel.
