Nestle Nutrition in Fremont, MI is a Product Development Center for Baby Meals and Drinks. The opportunity has arisen for an Analytical/Food Safety Intern to join our team!
The Analytical/Food Safety Intern will be conduct laboratory project work and various projects related tasks in the research laboratory and pilot plant under the supervision of scientists in the Quality/Food Safety and Analytical Services Department.
Length of Internship and Hours: 6 Months, Full-time.
Position Summary
The Intern will perform analytical method development using GC, HPLC, mass spectrometer and other wet chemistry equipment. Conduct experiment in bench and pilot plant scale related to assigned projects. Additionally you will support Microbiological research in an area relevant to quality and safety of Baby Meals & Drinks products and support laboratory studies related to verification/validation of Food Microbiology test methods. May perform other laboratory activities related to microbiological analysis or laboratory operations. Prepares periodic project updates to project team and a final project presentation. Maintain a laboratory notebook.
Cleans-up and general maintenance of laboratory and work area
Periodic maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting of analytical instrumentation and equipment
Performs other duties as assigned
Experience and Minimum Education Level
Required: Working towards a MS or PhD Degree in Chemistry, Food Microbiology, Food Safety/Food Science, or related technical field.
EXPERIENCE:
Preferred: Experience in a food pilot plant, food chemistry/microbiology laboratory or analytical setting. Experience of hand-on working with food microbiology analysis is preferred. Lab instrument skills (GC-MS, HPLC etc) experience are highly desired.
