Eli Lilly isseeking an ambitious post-doctoral scientist with strong research and communication skills to contribute to high visible research projects. Your work will contribute to the building structural mass spectrometry capabilities to support antibody discovery for multispan membrane protein targets
Location: San Diego, California
Develop cross linking (XL) and covalent labelling mass spectrometry (CLMS) based methods to study multispan membrane target interactions in a cellular environment.
Evaluate different crosslinkers and their suitability to mapping epitopes of soluble protein targets.
Develop diethylpyrocarbonate (DEPC) based or similar CLMS methods to study protein: antibody and protein/ protein interaction.
Apply optimized CLMS and XLMS methods directly in cells.
Expand applicability of these methods to multispan membrane targets to determine epitopes and protein interaction landscape.

Basic Qualifications
PhD in Chemistry or related field with experience in protein mass spectrometry.

This position is not permanent. It is for a fixed duration of two years with potential to extend to 3 years and for maximum of up to 4 years. You will have opportunities to apply for full time positions after your duration is complete.
Additional Skills/Preferences

- Experience with peptide mapping and analysis is preferred.
- Experience with Thermo and Waters mass spectrometry instrumentation is preferred.
- Experience with cell culture, membrane proteins and protein biochemistry will be beneficial.
- Self-directed and highly motivated individual who wants to learn new techniques while continually pursuing research and publication goals.
- Excellent communicator (oral and written) with presentation experience, along with a strong publication record.
- Proficient in data analysis and reporting
