Job Summary:
- The Memory and Imagination Laboratory is looking for a Research Assistant (RA) to support the implementation of many ongoing research projects. The RA will work alongside Dr. Daniela Palombo and the members of her research team on projects related to memory.
- The successful candidate would have enthusiasm for implementing and analyzing experimental memory paradigms with close assistance from the Principal Investigator. The successful candidate would have some experience with simple R coding or a willingness to learn.
- The successful candidate will maintain research records and databases. Other duties would include ensuring equipment and computer processing are functioning and well maintained in relation to ongoing experiments, as well as ensuring server backups are functioning.
Organizational Status: Will report to Principal Investigator, Dr. Palombo.
Work Performed:
- Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory software and equipment.
- Assist in obtaining new equipment for the laboratory following the Principal Investigator’s instructions.
- Basic troubleshooting of experimental tasks in relation to laboratory software or hardware following established protocols.
- Writing simple code and checking code written by others.
- Maintain detailed records of laboratory protocols.
- Routine tasks, including data collection, simple tests, and measurement.
- Data entry and checking.
- Completes other tasks appropriate to the classification.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school graduation and a minimum of one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one’s own.
- Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one’s awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in biological, health, computer science, or psychological science is preferred but not required.
- Ability to write computer code in R.
- Ability to troubleshoot computer software or hardware.
- Willingness to learn new software and technology.
- Effective organizational skills.
- Ability to follow established guidelines and protocols.
- Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
