YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role are to:
- Design, develop, and execute molecular, in-planta experiments aiming to identify optimal parameters needed for fine-tuned lab and controlledenvironment resistance gene evaluation.
- Help design molecular plant pathology lab testing strategies to answer project questions.
- Use molecular cloning and genetic engineering skills across a broad variety of organisms.
- Communicate results in a timely and organized fashion to project team and key stakeholders.
- Form partnerships with cross functional teams to drive molecular plant pathology insights.
- Solve complex problems autonomously requiring original thinking, creativity, and deductive reasoning and the application of scientific principles on the design and interpretation of scientific experiments.
- May be responsible for performing multiple experimental protocols under supervision. Use prior training, specialized knowledge, current and pertinent scientific literature in relevant technologies, and consultation with subject-matter experts to identify solutions and contribute to research projects and/or publications.
Prioritize and coordinates work within a matrixed testing environment maintaining detailed record keeping and required documentation. - Achieves commitment to safety and compliance, adhering to safety protocols and best practices

Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Master’s or Ph.D. program in Plant Pathology, Molecular Biology, Crop Science, Microbiology or closely related Life Science degree. (Does not defend until at least July 1st, 2024).
- Experience leveraging viral tools for disease control.
- Demonstrated molecular cloning and genetic engineering skills.
- Practical experience designing and implementing experiments to evaluate plant disease phenotypes for growth chamber environments.
Experience culturing microbes. - Proficient in microscopy techniques with plant tissue and microbes.
- Experience working in highly collaborative environment and effectively communicate research findings with audiences from diverse technical backgrounds.
- Proficient at analyzing data and interpreting results from complex statistical designs.
- Experience with qPCR. Strong cross-cultural awareness
