Stem Cell Biology and Genomic Editing (SCBGE) supports the Biogen portfolio by establishing human in vitro disease models from induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived cells. SCBGE differentiates patient iPSCs into disease-relevant cell types to study disease phenotypes.
Position Description
SCBGE seeks a co-op to help support the development of new iPSC differentiation protocols. This position will be lab-based. The primary responsibilities will include producing iPSC-derived oligodendrocytes, characterizing the cells, and optimizing key steps in the differentiation protocol. The ideal candidate will come with a desire to learn from hands-on experience, and a willingness to work cooperatively with others.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture. Experience with iPSC culture is preferred.
- Familiarity with molecular biology skills including mammalian cell DNA/RNA extraction, PCR/RT-PCR/qPCR.
- Familiarity with cellular biology techniques including immunocytochemistry, high-content imaging, image analysis, western blot, cell-based assays.
- Ability to precisely document procedures and results in compliance with Electronic Lab Notebook guidelines.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Completed relevant coursework in Cell and Molecular Biology.
Education
Currently enrolled in a BS or MS program in Biology, Biotechnology, or other relevant discipline.
