Position Summary
The Bioinformatics & DRAGEN HW SW department at Illumina is looking for a bioinformatics scientist with experience in algorithm development, machine learning, data analysis, and software development. The successful candidate will join us in the effort to develop bioinformatics tools and software enabling precision medicine.
Responsibilities
- Develop algorithms for analysis of various data types and platforms for translational research and clinical applications.
- Apply statistics, machine learning, and other computational methods to analyze large-scale genetic and epigenetic data in a fast-paced product development environment.
- Design and develop software to address novel analytical challenges and automate established analysis processes.
Required Skills and Experience
- PhD in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Machine Learning, or a related field with 5+ years of post-doctoral research or industry experience
- Strong background in algorithm development, machine learning, statistical modeling, and software development
- Experience in precision medicine and clinical genetics research or product development
- Proficiency in Python and/or R; knowledge of C, C++, C#, and/or Java is a plus
The estimated base salary range for the Staff Bioinformatics Scientist role in the USA is $152,600 – $228,800. Additional benefits include access to genomics sequencing, family planning, health/dental/vision, retirement benefits, and paid time off.
