Board Institute Biochemistry Job Board Institute is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented biophysicist/biochemist to enable therapeutic discovery through the expression, purification and characterization of therapeutic protein targets to join the Center for the Development of Therapeutics (CDoT). The successful candidate will have multiple experiences in the construction of expression vectors, expression and purification of recombinant proteins, and biophysical and functional analysis of recombinant proteins. Experience in protein crystallography and/or NMR is advantageous.

- PhD in Biochemistry, Biophysics or a related life science field with ideally 2 years post
- PhD research experience in an industrial or academic setting
- Experience with molecular cloning and vector construction required
- Experience in bacterial expression is required. Experience with insect and/or mammalian cell expression is advantageous
- Board Institute Biochemistry Job Experience in recombinant protein purification through multiple techniques (affinity, ion exchange, size exclusion) required
- Experience in the biophysical and functional characterization of recombinant proteins is required
- Experience in protein crystallography and/or NMR is advantageous
- Experience with production and engineering of antibodies is advantageous
- A proven record of successful interaction with project team members, external customers or vendors required
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES
Board Institute Biochemistry
- Design and construction of expression vectors for recombinant protein expression
- Board Institute Biochemistry Job Design, execution, and optimization of protocols to express recombinant proteins in bacterial, insect, and/or mammalian cells
Characterization of recombinant protein through biophysical techniques and functional assays - Interpreting experimental outcomes and proposing next steps
- Troubleshooting technical and scientific problems
- Documenting work and effectively presenting results to multi-disciplinary project teams
- Working in partnership with other team members to best achieve results
