Description:
The Department of Neurology at Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Clinical Research Associate I to manage sponsored clinical studies in various disease areas, with a focus on neuromuscular diseases. The department conducts over 25 clinical studies and the successful candidate will work closely with principal investigators and research staff in the Neurology Department. The ideal candidate must have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a general interest in neurological diseases.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
• Two (2) years of full-time clinical research experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in biology or a related field.
• At least one (1) year of full-time experience working on clinical trials in a coordinator role.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) training in Clinical Research Coordinator Foundation Series, Human Subjects Protection, Conflict of Interest (COI), Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR).

- Submit necessary paperwork to the sponsor and for IRB approval for new and ongoing studies.
- Recruit and screen patients for eligibility in clinical studies.
- Review medical records and follow up with phone calls for interested patients.
- Consent patients prior to the study according to protocol.
- Schedule and conduct study visits and patient follow-ups as needed.
- Handle paperwork related to research activities.
- Collect and analyze patient data.
- Maintain data for both sponsor and investigator use and ensure compliance with study protocol and regulatory agencies.
- Attend meetings.
- Submit data forms to the sponsor.
- Other duties as assigned.
Note: The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines, and the availability of funding.
