The Opportunity
The Genomics Platform is an interdisciplinary team of researchers with experience in molecular biology, NGS sequencing (long and short reads), spatial transcriptomics, and bioinformatics. We work collaboratively with Biohub research groups and affiliated university laboratories. As part of this effort, we are looking for an energetic, curious, and team-oriented Research Associate to join our team where we focus on sequencing, single cells and spatial transcriptomics technologies. The candidate will participate in the group’s efforts to develop new assays for targeted sequencing projects, test emerging technologies in sequencing and single cell RNA-seq, and participate in spatial transcriptomic projects.
You will
- Under the mentorship and supervision of senior researchers, plan and execute hands-on laboratory procedures to generate sequencing data for internal and external researchers and deploy new molecular tools in diverse experimental contexts
- Rapidly learn and apply molecular biology lab techniques in an active research environment with access to state-of-the-art resources and basic bioinformatics
- Troubleshoot protocols, maintain detailed records, analyze results, and contribute ideas to research projects
- Contribute to Global Outreach program with Rapid Response teaching international researchers to do metagenomic sequencing
You have
Essential –
- Bachelor’s degree in a life science with 1 year of molecular biology lab experience
- 1 year of wet laboratory techniques (DNA and RNA isolation, PCR, cloning/construct design)
- Experience in data collection, analysis, and interpretation
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and work independently
Nice to have –
- Master’s degree in a life science
- 3 years experience in molecular lab techniques (qPCR, sequencing library preparation, tissue culture)
- Experience with laboratory genomics workflows
- Experience sequencing on short and/or long-read platforms
- Experience with lab automation tools
- Basic coding skills
The Chan Zuckerberg Biohub requires all employees, contractors, and interns, regardless of work location or type of role, to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, including a booster vaccine dose, if eligible, by their start date. - Research Associate I = $52,000 – $77,000
- Research Associate II = $67,000 – $99,000
