Position Overview: The intern will be working in the Ingredient & Flavor Analytical group based in Atlanta, Georgia. They will be assisting in the expansion of analytical methods for current and new beverages using techniques such as chromatography, electrophoresis, and spectrophotometry. Focus will be on large molecules (proteins, carbohydrates) and other related components. The intern will be required to work independently as well as in a team.
This is a 3 month internship
Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in method development to measure large molecules in various beverages (milk, juice, plant-based beverages, etc.).
- Perform extractions and other sample preparation techniques.
- Operate various instrumentation for analysis.
- Collect, analyze, and report data for various projects.
- Write and/or present scientific reports and presentations.
Education Requirements:
- Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science, or related major
Related Work Experience:
- At least 1 year of college general chemistry lab required
- Quantitative and/or Instrumental Analysis lab experience preferred
- Previous chemistry lab research/internships a plus
Functional Skills:
- Basic wet chemistry skills required
- Good skills in communication (verbal and written)
- Sample preparation, Chromatography (HPLC), and/or Electrophoresis (CE, SDS-PAGE) experience desired
- Large molecule experience is a plus
- Computer skills desired: MS Office, MS Teams, Instrument/Data analytics software
