Required Qualifications:
- Must have one of the following: 2 months or more of relevant industrial laboratory experience OR an Associate’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Biology, or related science.
- In lieu of a degree, Dow will consider those with 4 or more years of relevant military experience.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- A minimum requirement for this U.S.-based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Job Summary:
Supports manufacturing operations by conducting laboratory analyses and evaluating results, as needed, which provides critical data. Prepares samples and performs basic calibration, preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and methods. Uses data systems to acquire data and monitor analytical system performance. Reports results to clients. Requires broadened technical skills in analytical/scientific methods or operational processes to perform a defined array of activities. May act as an informal resource for team members with less experience.
Responsibilities / Duties
- Performs routine analyses.
- Prepares basic calibration standards.
- Performs basic calibration and preventative maintenance of analytical systems.
- Evaluate the validity of data, applies basic statistics, interpret results and take appropriate action.
- Monitors analytical systems, identify problems, conducts first-line troubleshooting, and escalates as appropriate.
- Documents communicate and archive analytical results and calibration data.
- Follows EH&S and operating discipline management system (ODMS) procedures and practices for work tasks.
- Suggests improvements to lab work processes and tools.
- Escalates non-routine requests to an appropriate team member for follow-up.
Physical Requirements:
Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:
- Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting
- Stand at least 50% of the time.
- Walk for extended periods of time
- Wear all required personal protective equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Post Upper Secondary Education coursework in chemistry or related coursework.
- Experience using GC, LC, AA, FTIR, and viscometers.
- Experience with SQC.
Education:
A High School diploma or equivalent is required.
