Position Description
The Cellular Models and Assay Technologies (CMAT) group at Calico is seeking a Senior Research Associate with expertise in cell biology and biochemistry to join their team in South San Francisco, CA. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in implementing cellular models and assay technologies to drive groundbreaking scientific discoveries.
Responsibilities
- Apply molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology techniques to test hypotheses and validate targets and pathways.
- Validate reporter cell assays for medium-throughput screens
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills and optimize experimental protocols
- Analyze experimental data rigorously and communicate findings effectively
- Collaborate with team members and manage concurrent projects
Position Requirements
- BS/MS in Cell Biology and Biochemistry or related field
- Experience in research or drug development in an industry setting
- Proficiency in plate- and imaging-based experiments with various readouts
- Skilled in working with diverse cell models and differentiation protocols
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively
Nice To Have
- Proficiency in CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing
- Quantitative data and image analysis skills
- Experience with peptides in cellular assays
The estimated base salary range for this position is $119,000 – $130,000. Actual compensation will be based on experience and qualifications. The role is also eligible for two annual cash bonuses.
