Position: Technologist – Fermentation
Intermediate Technologist Fermentation (18-month term)
InnoTech Alberta seeks a qualified Technologist to join our Fermentation team within the Bio Industrial Services Group. This full-time role is for an 18-month term at Edmonton Research & Development Park.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of culturing microorganisms
- Assist in the design and execution of large-scale fermentations
- Perform sample analysis to support large-scale fermentation in an industrial setting
- Participate in shift and weekend work as the fermentation plant operates 24/7
- Handle tasks in an industrial environment with exposure to chemicals, biohazards, and moving equipment
- Physical tasks, including lifting to 50 pounds
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Biotechnology, Biological Science, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in fermenter operation or associated roles
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
