Overview
This position will assist scientists in performing scientific research, development and/or clinical tasks of varying complexity. Specifically, the research technician will be working with trained postdoctoral fellows on mouse and human xenograft models of leukemia and solid tumors. The projects aim to discover new modalities of immunotherapy that can potentially improve patient survival in malignant cancer. Based on the evaluation of overall performance and contribution, the technician may secure co-authorship in a future publication(s) that will be useful for future endeavors.
Responsibilities
- Animal work: Mouse genotyping, maintenance of mouse colonies, Tumor and drug Injections.
- Molecular Biology: Western Blot, RT PCR, ELISA.
- Cell culture: Maintaining a culture of human and mouse tumor cells and immune cells, Mycoplasma testing.
- Maintaining inventory of reagents and mice colonies in electronic lab notebook.
- Set up, adjust, calibrate, clean, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment.
- Ordering laboratory supplies.
- Analyze experimental data and interpret results to write reports and summaries of findings.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree is required, and a major in biology/immunology is preferred.
- Knowledge of information and techniques related to molecular biology or medicine is preferred.
- Must have excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team environment.
- Mouse work experience preferred.
- Experience/interest in molecular and experimental immunology preferred.
