Description & Requirements

Join us at Kraft Heinz, where we are seeking an Associate Scientist specializing in Fermentation and Biotechnology to join our R&D team. This role offers the opportunity to lead technology development through various microbiology, molecular biology, and fermentation techniques.

Responsibilities:

• Design, support, and implement research across various biotechnologies
• Apply scientific principles to new situations with autonomy
• Deal with ambiguity creatively and apply traditional techniques innovatively
• Lead projects from concept to commercialization with cross-functional teams

Requirements:

• B.S. degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or related fields.
• Minimum of 2 years in a technical role performing microbiological and other laboratory techniques
• Understanding of basic genetic parts and how to combine them in a host to achieve a specific outcome.
• Experience independently running fermentations at the bench scale, in shake flasks and bioreactors
• Basic understanding of microbial physiology, metabolism, and energetics and impact of fermentation parameters on desired product
• Strong critical thinking skills and ability to make connections to the big picture
• Strong understanding of Design of Experiments, laboratory experimentation, scale up, and mathematical/data analysis skills
• Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and project management skills
• Ability to build strong relationships and network
• Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time
