Join us at Kraft Heinz, where we are seeking an Associate Scientist specializing in Fermentation and Biotechnology to join our R&D team. This role offers the opportunity to lead technology development through various microbiology, molecular biology, and fermentation techniques.
Responsibilities:
- Design, support, and implement research across various biotechnologies
- Apply scientific principles to new situations with autonomy
- Deal with ambiguity creatively and apply traditional techniques innovatively
- Lead projects from concept to commercialization with cross-functional teams
Requirements:
- B.S. degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or related fields.
- Minimum of 2 years in a technical role performing microbiological and other laboratory techniques
- Understanding of basic genetic parts and how to combine them in a host to achieve a specific outcome.
- Experience independently running fermentations at the bench scale, in shake flasks and bioreactors
- Basic understanding of microbial physiology, metabolism, and energetics and impact of fermentation parameters on desired product
- Strong critical thinking skills and ability to make connections to the big picture
- Strong understanding of Design of Experiments, laboratory experimentation, scale up, and mathematical/data analysis skills
- Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and project management skills
- Ability to build strong relationships and network
- Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time
