LABORATORY INTERN
Job Summary:
To provide a learning environment and practical laboratory experience in support of a pharmaceutical development and manufacturing site. This position is primarily responsible for assisting in a variety of tasks to support analytical chemists. This includes routine laboratory and administrative tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and properly document on-the-job training for tasks that will be performed
- Complete assigned laboratory/administrative tasks as scheduled. These duties may include glassware preparation/washing/stocking, routine equipment setup/operation/calibration/maintenance, proper disposal of lab waste, solution/sample preparation, data entry, etc.
- Assist chemists in accurate and timely analysis of samples according to current analytical procedures, SOPs and laboratory guidelines
- Maintain accurate and legible labels, notebooks and records according to SOPs
- Perform housekeeping and organizational tasks
- Assist with document handling, distribution and filing
- Assist in special projects or other tasks as deemed necessary based on individual’s qualifications, business needs and lab management’s discretion
- Perform all work using appropriate safety measures
- Preparation on mobile phase, preparation of dissolution media, cleaning of dissolution baths and labeling of glassware
- All duties must be performed following cGMP’s/GLP’s and OSHA standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education/Qualifications
- High school graduate that has completed at least one year of college, preferably with a chemistry or biochemistry focus
- Familiarity with Karl Fischer, pH meter, balances preferred
- Maintains confidentiality
- Complies with all cGMP requirements and Company policies, procedures, rules and regulations
- Possesses sound documentation skills
- Communicates effectively
- Executes assigned tasks within established schedule
- Knowledgeable with Microsoft Word, Excel and Office
