Job Posting: Research Associate, Protein Sciences
Location: Cambridge, MA
Position Overview
Prologue Medicines is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Associate to join our dynamic Protein Sciences team. The successful candidate will contribute to platform and project advancement through interfacing with matrix teams and managing deliverables related to the protein production workflows. This full-time, on-site laboratory position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our computationally powered discovery initiatives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively as part of the Protein Sciences team to generate protein constructs for discovery, in-vitro and in-vivo studies.
- Maintain and optimize mammalian expression cell lines (HEK and CHO) for protein production.
- Routinely perform small-scale and large-scale transient transfections to generate recombinant proteins.
- Support the integration and optimization of custom automation technologies to support current and advanced production processes.
- Data and statistical analysis using various software’s like GraphPad Prism.
- Maintain precise experimental records in an electronic laboratory notebook, ensuring data integrity and compliance with company policies.
- Effectively communicate experimental findings in oral, written, and visual formats.
- Work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology, biological engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field and 0-2 years of industry experience
- Experience with cell culture techniques, including growth, maintenance, and transformation, across a variety of cell lines.
- Experience in cloning techniques and plasmid design/preparation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues and implement effective solutions.
- Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical companies, with a preference for experience in recombinant protein or biologics production companies.
- Experience with high-throughput protein expression and purification using automation is a plus.
- Familiarity with molecular biology software applications like Geneious, SnapGene is a plus.
