Your Responsibilities

Protein lipidation involves the attachment of lipids to proteins to regulate various biological processes. The PhD candidate will investigate the role and regulation of protein lipidation in (neuro)inflammation using (primary) cells and tissues. The goal is to advance the understanding of how these modifications impact proteins involved in (neuro)inflammatory disorders.

Available Positions

  • PhD position 1: Focus on the biology and regulation of protein lipidation.
  • PhD position 2: Concentrate on developing mass spectrometry proteomics strategies.

Your Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in (Chemical/molecular) Biology or related field.
  • Experience in molecular biology, cell culturing techniques, and proteomics mass-spectrometry (desired but not essential).
  • Strong English writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work well independently and in a collaborative, multidisciplinary setting.

What We Offer

  • A 4-year position in an international multidisciplinary lab at Utrecht University.
  • Gross monthly salary between €2,901 and €3,707, with additional benefits such as holiday pay, year-end bonus, pension scheme, and more.
