Your Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Plan and conduct single-particle analysis (SPA) cryo-EM studies to elucidate structures of biomolecules relevant to drug discovery
- Prepare cryo-EM samples and collect, analyze, and interpret cryo-EM datasets
- Employ computational methods to analyze cryo-EM data and model complex biological systems
- Interpret structures of biological macromolecules to communicate biological and chemical modes of action to project teams
- Coordinate external structural biology support for research projects, ensuring timely delivery of results and alignment with project requirements
- Work as an integral part of interdisciplinary teams to integrate structural data into broader biological contexts
- Mentor and train peers and junior scientists in cryo-EM workstreams
- Stay current with advancements in structural biology techniques and methodologies for enhancing research capabilities
Qualification:
- Hold a Ph.D. in Structural Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Cell Biology, or a related field
- Demonstrate a strong track record using structural biology to understand molecular mechanisms and biological processes
- Possesses extensive hands-on expertise in cryo-EM, including sample preparation, data collection, analysis, and structure determination
- Have experience in optimizing biochemical samples and processing complex datasets
- Strong background in protein expression, purification, and characterization techniques
- Experience with other structural biology techniques such as X-ray crystallography, NMR spectroscopy, SAXS, and/or HDX
- Experience using computational methods for predicting biomolecular complexes and protein design (desirable)
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and collaborative work skills
- Strong communication skills and the ability to present complex data clearly
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written); basic knowledge of German is a plus
