Bioinformatics Scientist Position
Location: Mississauga or Across Canada (Hybrid position available for those living in the Greater Toronto Area)
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Senior/Principal Bioinformatics Scientist to join Roche Diagnostics. As a Bioinformatics Scientist, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development of Roche Diagnostics Molecular Assays that have a global impact on patient care. This position requires a broad understanding of assay development on multiple technologies such as PCR, digital PCR, and Next Generation Sequencing. The successful candidate will collaborate with Bioinformatics, wet lab scientists, and external customers to develop and maintain internal algorithms and tools used to support PCR assay development.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Bioinformatics and wet lab scientists to develop tools for assays development.
- Lead scientific business analysis efforts to understand customers’ needs.
- Provide hands-on assay designs and troubleshooting to ensure data accessibility, quality, and integrity.
- Follow best practices for documentation and training of algorithms and tools.
- Present and communicate project results to various functions in the organization.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a relevant subject area with a minimum of 3+ years of experience.
- Proficiency in programming languages (Python, R) in a distributed Linux environment.
- Good understanding of biology and clinical diagnostics.
- Track record of supporting scientific informatics efforts and implementing informatics solutions independently.
- Excellent communication and scientific presentation skills.
- Strong statistics, C++, or Java proficiency is a plus.
- Detail-oriented and committed to delivering high-quality clinical products.
