Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for the Child Health Institute of New Jersey within the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Under the direction of Dr. Derek Sant’Angelo (PI) the Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for the performance and analysis of experiments focused on the transcription control of T cell effector functions in the context of diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease or Type 1 Diabetes. The applicant should have a strong background in immunology, cell biology, transcription factors and/or genomics. Experience with mouse models, FACS and/or RNA-seq is preferred. In addition, the candidate will participate in lab meetings, research in progress seminars, prepare manuscripts, assist in grant writing, and is expected to apply for fellowship opportunities.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Design, perform and analyze experiments pertaining to the study of T cell subsets in mouse models and/or human T cells.
- Monitor and assess disease progression in mouse models.
- Analysis of cell phenotype and function by multiparameter flow cytometry.
- Prepare libraries for RNA-seq or single cell RNA-seq. Analysis of data from such experiments.
- Genomic analysis by use of techniques such as chromatin immunoprecipitation.
Working knowledge of basic molecular techniques (PCR, cloning, DNA sequence analysis) and animal handling (mouse genotyping and breeding). - Review, analyze and report relevant literature and assist the PI in the preparation of manuscript and grant application relevant to the experimental work.
- Assists in the instruction and training of students (undergraduate and graduate) in techniques and procedures of the laboratory.
