About the Job

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled immunologist to join the In vitro biology and mechanism of action team within the mRNA Center for Excellence to support the advancement of mRNA vaccine/therapeutics platform. As an experienced immunologist, you will be leading from the bench by planning, developing, and executing in vitro assays. You will design in vivo studies and analyze tissue samples to understand the mechanism of immune response in various disease models upon treatment with mRNA vaccines.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop in vitro models of primary immune cells or co-culture models to screen mRNA-LNPs and assess the immune response
  • Develop in vitro efficacy models to test lead mRNA-LNP candidates and assess downstream read-outs such as cytokine secretion and immune cell proliferation in response to treatment
  • Utilize techniques such as Flow cytometry, ELISA, cytokine analysis to generate high-quality data to support the mRNA platform
  • Maintain cell cultures, perform transfection and assess protein expression by western blot or Flow cytometry
  • Design in vivo studies to test mRNA-LNPs and perform analysis on tissues to assess immune cell response and its mechanism in relevant disease models
  • Train and mentor other members of the team
  • Conduct decision-quality research, organize, analyze and interpret data, summarize results and prepare technical reports
  • Prepare scientific presentations and report project progress at internal team meetings and scientific research forums

Qualification:

  • Ph.D. in Immunology or relevant field with 2+ years of experience (preferred), OR Master’s degree + 5 years, OR Bachelor’s degree +7 years of experience in a research laboratory or pharma/biotech setting
  • Strong background in immunology with extensive hands-on experience in Flow cytometry, ELISA, cell culture is required
  • Cell biology techniques such as imaging and microscopy are a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts to key internal and external stakeholders
  • Think critically, be motivated to learn new techniques with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to research challenges
  • Well organized with a curious mindset and extreme attention to detail. Strong desire to make an impact
