Position Summary
The Scientific Intern will work in the Product Development team focused on the Microbiological Potency Portfolio. They will employ microbiology methodologies including aseptic technique, serial dilutions, enumeration of microbiological cultures, and preparation of media and reagents. The position will require accurately maintaining and recording test data. Must possess the ability to perform and accurately document tasks according to standardized test methods, established Work Instructions, and written protocols in a timely manner. Must be able to work on multiple studies at different stages of the process.
This internship is for Summer 2022 (May – August)
What You Will Do
- Testing to standardized methods to evaluate germicidal activity of microbiological cultures, to include inoculation and recovery of test articles as well as proper use of test controls in experiments.
- Generates and maintains microbiological working cultures.
- Preparation of microbiological media and reagents.
- Performs testing, accurately records data, and communicates results in a timely manner.
- Works under direct supervision with specific instructions.
- Carries out routine tasks independently.
- Operates and maintains laboratory equipment.
- Understands and complies with accepted regulatory, laboratory, and safety procedures required of working in BSL-1 and BSL-2 laboratories
- Demonstrates working successfully in a team environment.
- Demonstrates oral communication skills: Reporting of laboratory results to supervisor are accurate.
- Perform all work in a safe and environmentally conscious manner.
What You Need To Be Successful
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, or Molecular Biology is preferred.
- Minimum Educational Requirement: Successful completion of Sophomore level coursework or above by May 2022.
- Requires 0-2 years of related laboratory experience.
