About the Job
Overview: Element has a current opportunity for a Virologist II to join our growing team in Eagan, MN. The Virologist II, working as part of the Microbiology team, will perform antimicrobial efficacy testing as part of a fast-paced and vibrant Element testing lab. This position will follow standard and custom test methods to test antimicrobial product efficacy against viruses and bacteria, and will generate data while maintaining a high level of scientific integrity. This position may also assist with research and development (R&D) projects when implementing new methods or adapting current methods.
Responsibilities:
- Performs, evaluates, and interprets a wide range of microbiology assays including basic analytical titrations.
- Responsible for virus propagation using aseptic technique and cell cultures.
- Maintains strict documentation of raw data to ensure a high level of scientific integrity.
- Assists in developing and refining Standard Operating Procedures and forms.
- Has good time management skills and is able to handle multiple tasks related to laboratory processes.
- Basic understanding of applicable regulatory requirements.
Skills / Qualifications:
- A B.S. degree in biological sciences is required.
- Solid understanding of classical microbiology principles and techniques.
- Knowledge of general analytical procedures including chemical titrations.
- Understanding of virus and cell culture propagation techniques.
